{D.I.Y N°9} – Sautoir en Tissu | Handmade Fabric Necklace

For this new DIY, we will make a fabric necklace. Do not be afraid to get started in couture because myself, I’m not very good. The real key is patience!

You will need

Fabric strips (width: 7cm, length: 140cm)

Sewing thread (color to choose according to your fabric)

Cotillion balls (forgotten in the photo, preferably white)

A sewing needle

Tweezers

Scissors

A wooden stick

Processing

1. Cut strips of 7 cm wide in the fabric of your choice (keep the length if purchase haberdashery).

2. Sew front section with the front section of your fabric strip by closing one end. Return your strip of fabric with the tweezers and wooden stick.

3. Tie a knot about 15 cm from the sewn end and then go to your first cotillion ball.

4. Thread your sewing thread in the eye of the needle. Make a knot. Swivel the fabric after the cotillion ball, to pass through the needle in the middle of the twist and roll two or three times the thread after the ball while playing back each time in the twist to block the ball. Make a knot to consolidate everything before putting another cotillion. Repeat the process until there are 15 centimeters of fabric left.

5. Tie a knot after the last ball and then sew the end of the strip.

6. Cut the thread between each ball of cotillion then assemble the necklace.
